Yamaha Randall May ABS Auto Release Flip Snare Carrier - Product Information

With the Yamaha Randall May ABS Auto Release Snare Carrier allows performers to get in and out of the carriers quickly with out loosing fits adjustments. The Contour Hinge allows for independent upper and mid body contour adjustment to custom fit a wide range of player sizes. The ABS Series carriers also feature the tapered aluminum abdomen plate that can be inverted, reversing its shape for a better fit depending on the preference of body type of the player. Additional features include infinite torso height adjustment and reversible ABS positioning, for larger players. Shoulder positioning can be fine-tuned by rotating the shoulder's caster down (into the back) and/or pivoting the camber angle (toward/away from the neck).

  • ABS Magnetic Connection - Developed for fast mount and dismount common with indoor drumlines. Working in conjunction with the ABS Auto Release, the magnetic connection maintains original desired mounting position even with rapid and stylized mounting often seen in indoor and outdoor drumline competitions.
  • Tubular Technology - The ultra lightweight, aluminum tubular body provides low mass of structure on the p[layer while yielding unparalleled strength.

Lightweight but very uncomfortable

Comments:

I purchased this on a recommendation from a friend who has an older model. His does not contain the inflatable back pad. I found it to be incredibly uncomfortable, both while wearing it, and especially when taking the it off. The design of the back pad makes it annoying to take on and off, which I do frequently in my performances. It would constantly get caught on the back of my head, or jam my nose into the frame, or force me to twist my head. While it did improve my posture (I guess) I can't say that it made wearing the rig any more comfortable. The inflatable cushion felt more like a gimmick that would break quickly. Besides the back brace, I had a hard time torquing the front screw enough to make it stay rigid when my drum was mounted. Comfort issues aside, I can say that the system is well made, light weight, and sturdy. If you plan to put the carrier on and wear it continuously, you might like it. I need something different.
