Yamaha Recording Custom Brass Snare Drum - 13x6.5 - Product Information
The Yamaha Recording Custom Brass Snare Drum embraces the rich tradition of Yamaha's Recording Custom Series. Renowned drummer Steve Gadd prefers to use this drum. The snare wire that comes standard installed is a 20 strand snare wire but also bundled with this drum is Gadd's preferred snare wire configuration. This is a 10 strand wire configured in two groups of 5 with a gap in the middle. This yields the classic cut sound Steve Gadd is known for.
With other Yamaha beaded snares the center bead was on the inside of the drum. Following Gadd's input Yamaha has placed the bead on the outer part of the shell. This produces a more open sound than the conventional Yamaha snare drums, for crisp, articulate performance.
