If you're having to play a lot of crash cymbals on those parade and/or patriotic performances and don't have a lot of arm endurance, then these are the ones to get. They don't have as nice a sound as the heavier, thicker, larger cymbals, but that's a given. We just used these cymbals in an outdoor Memorial Day concert and we very pleased with the sound.

Approx 4 years ago I borrowed Zildjian Classic 16" med light orchestral crash cymbals from my percussion teacher to play in the orchestra. He came to hear us perform and was quite impressed. These are light weight for cymbals and really put out a beautiful sound. Always wanted a pair of my own and finally purchased them. I play these cymbals in the Pops Orchestra and am very happy with them. I would highly recommend these for any small orchestra. I don't recommend any padding with them, just the straps. Very Happy :) i.e. they sounded awesome when we played Highlights from Phantom of the Opera.
