Dutta-Tabla Techniques (DVD)

Aloke Dutta, well-known performer and educator, demonstrates many important techniques of tabla playing, some of which were once transmitted only to relatives in a musician's family. Using these techniques, he shows how to compose different grooves, such as five, six, seven, eight and nine. In order to help students produce the sounds properly, he demonstrates various tabla syllables, including flams, at the end of the tape.
