Tyson was just accepted into graduate school at Eastman School of Music when he contacted El-Dabh and asked him to write a piece for him to premier at Eastman.  \u003cbr\u003e    This piece calls for multiple roll types (especially independent rolls) and requires the player to be very smooth when changing techniques.  This is an excellent performance piece that will connect with the audience as well as show off much technical proficiency.  \u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eHalim El-Dabh's\u003c\/b\u003e compositions form a bridge between the East and the West.Drawing inspiration from his work as an ethnomusicologist in Africa as well as from the compositional traditions of Europe and the Americas, he writes with a unique voice that is simultaneously ancient and modern.
