goodenberger-glass-works
Goodenberger-Glass Works (SP)-glass instruments
Glass Works was commissioned in 1996 by the Third Angle New Music Ensemble for a performance at the Bullseye Glass Foundry. Composer Mark Goodenberger's thought was to compose a piece fitting for that setting, therefore all of the instruments are made of glass. Carrying that concept further, Goodenberger wanted the music to imitate the four sounds that make up the title: "gla," "ss," "wor" and "ks." This was done both vocally and through the timbres created by the chosen instruments.

Number of players: 4
Difficulty: Intermediate

Instrumentation

Player 1: One high pitched glass for breaking, high pitched glass wind chimes, three crystal goblets (pitched higher than the other players), three large glass bowls
Player 2: One medium pitched glass for breaking, medium pitched glass wind chimes, one high crystal goblet, three small glass bowls
Player 3: One low pitched glass for breaking, low pitched glass wind chimes, one medium crystal goblet, three medium-small glass bowls
Player 4: Four glass gongs, one low crystal goblet, three medium-large glass bowls, one box filled with broken glass (played with gloved hands), three medium-small glass bowls
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0563/3055/1350/files/goodenberger-glass-works-sp-glass-instruments.jpg?v=1773415199
