It also needs a character. In each etude, or story in this book, the main character is the inventor.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eIn Part One, called The Person, there are a few facts listed about each inventor. These are also facts that the player can use to fill out the parts of the story. These are not all of the facts about each person, but are some of the most important.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003ePart Two is called The Setting. This is where the student is given some short exercises to work rudiments, rolls and rhythms. The student is encouraged to go back and work section II for different inventors, as these will continue to develop technique.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003ePart Three is The Story. This is an etude that incorporates the inventor's motif and often ideas from section II. As previously mentioned, this is where the student can imagine that they are playing the story of the composer and use the facts listed in part one to make their playing more descriptive and emotional.
