The work was written using loose serial techniques tempered with musical taste and an awareness of programmatic necessity. A twelve-tone row was utilized as a representative structure of the all-encompassing nature of the 'Sonic Fabric.' This row was then manipulated to create the rhythmic and tonal soundscapes of the following sections.
