Although slightly more complicated rhythmically, Third Dance contains similar treatment of thematic cells which rely upon the tri-tone and carious triplet figures. After the work was unfortunately lost, it was painstakingly reconstructed in manuscript, note by note, from a surviving taped performance and several sketches. The majority of the dance is virtually unchanged from its original version, though a few minor revisions were necessary.
