They had each purchased a tambourine and wanted to learn how to better play the instrument. I began writing a piece that would use many of the basic sounds possible on a tambourine and, as I am a person who loves stories, I came up with the idea of a playful competition between the two tambourine performers, each trying to \"1 up\" the other. Every game needs rules, and thus I came up with the idea of the third performer, a referee to keep the competition friendly.
