Description
Witches' Dance by Edward Macdowell arranged by Charles Owen edited by Dan C. Armstrong. This work was arranged by Dan C. Armstrong for solo xylophone and five marimbas in honor Charles Owen for the PASIC '90 Marimba Orchestra which premiered the work with William Moersch as soloist and Armstrong conducting. This version was adapted from Mr. Owen's arrangement for solo xylophone and band which he performed numerous times with the U.S. Marine Band with whom he was timpanist and marimba soloist before being appointed Principal Percussionist with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Originally written for piano by Edward MacDowell, the arrangement is written in ¾ (instead of the original 3/8). The solo part is challenging but accessible to good college-level players and the accompaniment parts are relatively simple.
