Having used a few other "dinner" chimes, these stand out as the best available. After an old set of Ross Dinner Chimes disappeared, our organization bought a less expensive option before eventually realizing that the Ross Dinner Chime was far better than the bargain chime. Our replacement Ross Dinner Chime is resonant and cuts through crowd noise like a hot knife through butter. I'd recommend these chimes for calling a group to dinner or calling theater-goers to their seats.

Ross Dinner Chimes

This is essentially a replica of one I played in my Grandma's home in the 1950's and I think that one was a few years old then. I don't know if the same company has continued making them all these years. I was delighted by it then, both banging on it, calling the family to dinner on it when I was delegated to, and trying to play it softly and gently. I don't know if this is the same company that made hers. The Ross DC is elegant to behold, built to last, has wonderful soft tones which somehow also fill the room and my house so that guests are called to dinner or the meeting announced. I gave one as a wedding gift to my daughter and keep one for myself.

There was a time when banquets and dinner parties began with the musical notes of the dinner chime to herald the beginning of Dinner or similar....sadly those times were lost but not anymore........at our establishment dinner chimes once again herald the start of service and an elegant evening ahead..Bravo!

We use the chimes to announce when meals are ready at our retirement community. The residents have loved the chimes. "Sounds like the symphony or the play is beginning". The staff all have their favorite chime tunes to play. The chimes have a very rich and mellow tone to them. Other chimes I listened to sounded rather "tinny". We mounted them on the dining room wall, and they look very classy. We are extremely pleased with them.

These chimes have a wonderful tone, and lend a professional touch to any meeting. They can be played as softly or loudly as you need, depending on the size of your audience. It is a much more pleasant way to let your guests know it is time to reconvene than by shouting or using a gong. The 4-tone Ross chime set I'm using is many years old and they still sound as good as they did on day one --I recommend them highly.
