Gibraltar Concert Snare Drum Stand

The Gibraltar 5706EX is probably the best value in concert snare stands. This Concert Height Snare Drum Stand features a stable large leg base with cast height adjustment and gearless offset basket tilter for exact placement. Holds 10" to 15" drums....

Almost

Comments:

As others have mentioned the basket screw knob is too long, so you can't set the level before tightening it up. Quality and price almost outweigh this flaw.

Durable yet, one major design flaw...

Comments:

I am a percussionist and a band director and got this concert snare stand for my school, because of the price and I've owned Gibraltar items in the past and they've been great. Pros: - I love the legs being double braced. - The snare basket area being big enough for a larger snare drum and goes small enough for practice pads and such. - The rubber where the snare drum rests is sturdy and durable. Cons: - The stand is too tall for some of my smaller kids, but great for average 8th-12th graders for height. - The snare basket tension knob is terribly designed. Unless the snare is at an angle you cannot loosen or tighten the knob, because the knob will hit the metal post. Therefore, every time you want to take a drum off the stand or put one on you have to tilt the snare basket. It sounds like first world problems, but when you are constantly using different drums in different class periods it can be a hassle. Suggestion: Find another stand that is not built like this. I hope Gibraltar doesn't do this with future stands, because I like most of their other products.

Long Lasting and Durable

Comments:

I'm puzzled seeing the other review of this product because I've had a completely different experience. I've used this stand in concert environments as well as for marching snare drums, and everything in between. It holds the weight well with durable legs and a smooth knob to open or close the three bars at the top. For over 3 years I have had this stand and it works like brand new

Percussion Professor

Comments:

The plastic knob that adjusts tightens the stand to the drum easily breaks. When this happens the stand is useless. I had one stand with a snare drum on it come down on a student's hand. It pinched the webbing between his index finger and thumb. He was in a lot of pain. This was due to the plastic piece breaking. I don't know why Gibraltar puts a cheap plastic part on a very important part of the stand. I wish they offered a replacement for this plastic tightener. Don't buy stand. I have had many of their cymbals stands break. The legs come apart where they are welded (?) to the main part of the stand. This has been a rarity with other brands.
