Rain Dance by Alice Gomez has become a popular choice for beginning marimba players. Simple melodic statements make this work a catchy favorite. Beginnig 4 mallet marimba players will enjoy the syncopated rhythms and independent left hand work...
This piece was my first public performance piece back in high school. It's been with me ever since and is a good go to at social events. Definitely a crowd pleaser and so fun to play.

Classic tune- A must have
Comments:
This tune is excellent for pedagogical purposes and also a crowd favorite in marimba concerts. I have used it many times in concert to clear the pallet after a more heavy piece of marimba literature.

Rain Dance
Comments:
This piece has enough brightness at the beginning and end to challenge the intermediate student but not overwhelm. The legato center section is a good place for the player to put themselves into the piece and communicate their own musicality.

Great For Beginners!
Comments:
I purchased this solo for the purpose of starting one of my private students on 4 mallet marimba. The music is not too hard at all and begins working beginning techniques of a 4 mallet method. The music has a very nice and fun sound to it and students love playing it and listening to it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone for use as a beginner 4 mallet solo.

Great piece
Comments:
What a great beginning 4 mallet peice! Even though it may be a little overdone, it's always good to have a piece that students can latch on to. This piece is very "catchy"!

Hop into 4
Comments:
I am currently preparing this piece for a regional solo festival in my area. I am a high school student and I have hand for snare rather than marimba. This piece has helped me get into the 4-mallet technique.

Overplayed
Comments:
This solo is very nice. It is a good solo for players who have grasped four mallet technique (pardon the pun) and want to play a "real" four mallet piece. It also happens to be the most overplayed marimba solo ever. Most of the (serious) percussionists i know have played this. It has a nice melody, and helps develop hand independence with the left hand ostinado. The simple rolling section is a nice place to develop phrasing skills.
