Older Persimmon Stick Review - A Good Stick

Comments:

Know that this review is based on my persimmon pair I received about a decade ago, so I cannot speak to the newer hickory sticks. My pair features slightly less dense persimmon than I am used to, but it works well with the stick shape. In college I liked to use them for rudimental etudes. I also found them useful for buzz rolls. Not a stick I reach for all the time, but they definitely have a place in my bag.

A nice touch

Comments:

Pretty light sticks. Good balance. Maybe not my favorite stick ever, but I love the broad (but not overbearing tone) they produce with the bigger tips. Perfect for medium volume rolls, and a lighter touch without too much articulation.

My Son Loved These!

Comments:

I purchased these sticks for my son at the recommendation of his percussion director. He loves them. He enjoys that they require a different type of control and produce excellent sound. I'm so glad I bought them!

Cooperman Nick Petrella

Comments:

Purchase these sticks for my son to play with at solo and ensemble. The judge marked him off for having unpitched sticks and said stick selection was a neg. I also let his percussion instructor look at them and he said they were unpitched also.

Cooperman sticks

Comments:

The quality of the sticks is subpar. There are important areas in the shoulder and tip that are not as smooth as they should be and could easily chip. Also, the beads are of different sizes and shapes, not radically different, but hardly the same. As you know this kind of thing alters hand to hand eveness. Is this a trait of the brand? If so, I was not aware. Very disappointed. I don't have the time to repackage and return so I will just keep them.

Cooperman Drumsticks

Comments:

My son Dylan used a pair of these sticks that belong to his drum teacher and loved them so wanted to get his own. The only problem is, these sticks feel heavier than the ones he had borrowed, so he is not sure if they will work for him. He does not know if he wants to keep them. the problem is, ordering them by mail he cannot feel the sticks to see if they feel closer to the ones he liked.

Good Choice

Comments:

These sticks are great for concert and solo playing alike. Well balanced. Perfectly matched by pitch and weight. Of the Cooperman name, these are definitely my favorite. A bit lighter than any of the Graham C. Johns I have used, but definitely a comfortable weight. As I said, they are great for both orchestral and solo music and for this price, you'll still have money left to buy some sheet music. These are great sticks; a pair that every serious percussionist should have in their bag.

Sweet

Comments:

These are great general concert sticks. They are a little short and back weighted for me, but I really like them. They are similar to the Graham C. Johns #2 or a shortened Zuber Nothung.

Great!!!

Comments:

These sticks are very well balanced and produce a wonderful sound. If you want quality always go with Cooperman! I'd recommend these for playing things such as Dimitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10 Mvt. II, Walkin' down Coolidge(solo), and anything rudimental that requires quick and precise attack on the concert snare drum.

great sticks!

Comments:

These sticks are finely balanced--much better than any Vic Firth marching sticks. The closest thing Vic Firth makes are the Jeff Queen solo sticks, and there's not even a comparison. The Coopermans make faster, harder passages easier to execute with better stick control and speed. Don't hit the rim with these--they are too good to waste by letting them get eaten up after only a few months. Perfect for rudimental passages like Pratt pieces, while still allowing a classical buzz roll (something few sticks can boast).

Effective Buzz

Comments:

Besides the overall light weight in the pair I bought, the nice part about these sticks is that buzzing, which is common in orchestral percussion, is very easy with a pair of #5s. The sticks don't rebound as much as I'd like, but then again, these are concert percussion sticks, not Ralphies.

These sticks are beautiful, balanced, quality. They are so nice I almost don't want to hit things with them. Best sticks I've ever played with.

Excellent Sticks!

Comments:

When it comes to concert drumming, and you really want a top quality stick for a lower price...definitely go for these! These have been my favorite pair for years now until I finally went with the "Rosewood" Both are great for all around drumming. I would suggest the Rosewood if you want a more deeper sound, but understand that they are going to be heavier!

These sticks are great for concert snare drumming. They have a great feel and the weight is nice. They are light enough for delicate drumming, but also pack enough power so that you can easily produce a wide range of sounds. If you need a good, "all-around" pair of sticks, this is th ticket!
