Great for solos, not for ensembles
Comments:
These mallets have earned their popularity for sure. They have a very warm sound and feel great to play on marimbas or xylophone as an extra-soft or rolling mallet. 4-mallet feels great because they aren't too top-heavy and the polish makes the shafts smooth but not slippery. Excellent mallet for solo & percussion ensemble work
However, they fall short during larger ensemble playing. Despite being more top-heavy, they're still lighter than most other marimba mallets, and struggle to project through a strong brass section or into larger performance halls. I've purchased almost the entire line (IP200-400) but I always find myself reaching for a Zivkovic or Mark Ford model during ensemble rehearsal.

Excellent mallets!
Comments:
These mallets create such a beautiful sonority from our marimba...not too much attack with clear resonance that projects through the ensemble. Would purchase again!

Really Good
Comments:
As someone who likes marching band and using different dynamic quality in my mallets, I would recommend these for a concert setting or lower dynamics. They have a very beautiful sound and keep your playing really smooth and majestic. Still love them after about a year's use.

I love them
Comments:
They are a very good well rounded mallet, good for any use. You can easily control dynamics, they sound good on any mallet instrument, even for cymbal rolls. They are very well built, and pretty cheap too. I suggest these for any mallet players, especially for high-school level players that dont want to buy a bunch of different pair.

Solid first mallets
Comments:
I don't own this mallet series personally but I have a fellow percussionist who has bought the whole line of this series and let me say these sound really great for solo marimba. They have the perfect blend between to 'dotty' and too 'fluffy.' they have a good sound implication for a good majority of marimba repertoire and for the price these are a steal.

Perfect!
Comments:
These mallets are perfect! In addition to playing Marimba semi-professionally, I enjoy challenging myself with an occasional game of Two-Handed Mini Wack-a-Mole, and these mallets are perfectly balanced for Marimba...and Mini-Mole-Wacking...

Great Starting Mallet.
Comments:
Great Mallet. Produce a nice tone on the marimba and feel good in the hands too. Has a bit of contact noise at times but I've been told that should lessen over time. Look good, feel good, sound good. What more can you ask for?

These are good mallets
Comments:
I own two pairs of vic firth m3 mallets as well as 2 pairs of these mallets and I personally like these mallets much more. They look nicer, feel better to hold, the yarn has stayed intact longer than my vic firth mallets. Overall I would recommend these mallets to anyone interested in playing the marimba

IP240s
Comments:
We've had to purchase several pairs of these, and they seem to break easily. The first pair that broke was warrantied. The second pair, we taped with electrical tape, because it's simply a hassle to deal with this every time one breaks. The warranty process itself was handled very well. Just seems like the stick shouldn't break that easily. Hoping we make it through the school year without having to buy yet another pair of $30 mallets.

good for beginners or practice
Comments:
The main problem I have with these is that there is a lot of contact noise in certain parts of the marimba. From a distance the extra noise is not audible, but I'm sure it could be avoided. They do produce a very nice tone though.
These are also good for cymbal and tom rolls, temple blocks, etc.

Excellent mallets!
Comments:
This is a very good starting marimbist mallet. I began using using these for four-mallet solos because they were recommended by numerous instructors of mine; They have a nice tone to them. It is a part of the Soloist Series, so it wouldn't be good for a concert or marching setting, because it will not produce the enough sound. I also found the mallets very light, switching from a marching band setting, so I had a somewhat difficult time adjusting to these mallets. Overall, these are great mallets for any beginning marimbist, especially for beginning four-mallet players!

Good Mallet
Comments:
This mallet is great for rehearsing and using to teach students, but I wouldn't use it live in a performance. It has just too much contact noise for my taste, and the good sound of the mallet doesn't compensate for the contact sound.
Works best on a rosewood marimba.

Excellent product
Comments:
Nothing beats these things. It sounds great all over the marimba. These are soft though, so they are only really useful in soloing (hence the series soloist.) Love them, wouldn't trade for another pair.
