Had a set of original Gary Burton vibe mallets in college. They were made with blue cord and had just a great feel on the instrument. These mallets are a bit softer (probably because they are yarn wound). They are ok but not exactly like the old ones, but then, what is?

Great soft mallet
Comments:
This is my first set of these mallets. There're great when you want a soft attack with a big sound. Played piano, they have a beautiful sound quality. Forte, they can produce a big, full sound, but without a hard attack. I've started using them for my 4th ( low register) mallet on vibes. (I might be using Balter Blues for the other 3 mallets.). You can get a great big sound in the low register without any "clunk". Great for solo or small ensemble work.

Not like the Good Vibes Burtons
Comments:
I had to return these, sorry. I tested these side-by-side with my original Good Vibes Gary Burton model, and it is not even close. If you're looking to replace the GV's, they do not match. That said, they feel well-made and sturdy.

Great First Vibe Mallet
Comments:
I really like this mallet a lot. As a college student, this mallet has not failed me yet. It produces great soft tones, but can also be loud if you need that too. In my opinion, the mallets are a touch too soft, and can be hard to hear in a concert band or large ensemble setting. However, they are perfect for solo work, or small combos. If deciding between Mike Balter 23R and Gary Burtons, either will work, and it depends on the sound you want.

Too Soft in my opinion
Comments:
Great mallet in small ensemble or solo, haven't had the opportunity to use it in a combo setting so take what I say with a grain of salt. I use this mallet in percussion ensemble and Wind ensemble and it just does not do the job for me, not very articulate or dynamic. That being said, it does have a nice warmth to and draws a great tone, some say in a few months it is a solid mallet, for me it is not,I believe I could have chosen the wrong mallet as well.

Just perfect....
Comments:
these mallets are exactly what Gary Burton describes for why he made these in the first place. I've been playing with Micelli's for two years, and now that they've been broken in, they are juuuust a little bit too clanky, after the yarn has been so compressed.
With the Burton's wider head, and synthetic yarn, after they broke in, they still have a nice warm tone in the lower register, but if i choose to hit harder, (which I do when playing with two mallets only,) they have a warm, AND crisp tone.
Very VERY happy with these mallets.

Good mallets
Comments:
Good mallets, thought it's a rattan handle I found it to be somewhat rigid in comparison with my other rattan handle mallets.

Great Feel
Comments:
I just got my own Vibraphone and Gary Burton good vibes mallets came with them.
I felt bad for using a classic antique stick and running the risk of chipping or someone stealing them, but i loved the feel! When i got these they felt exactly the same so same that i could play the old ones in my left and the new ones in my right and you get the awesome rich sound and not too light or heavy weight its perfect! Get them

Great Mallets
Comments:
These mallets are really solid. They aren't too heavy, not too light. They have great attack, and work really well. They are really durable, and feel really comfortable in the hands. They project really well on stage, on the field, and on the floor. I find when I use them on my school instruments, it makes the instrument sound better. Not that it can make a bad vibraphone sound good, but it may help you find the sound you're looking for. Highly recommended. They are also comfortable for Stevens grip.

Burton Vibes Mallets
Comments:
These mallets are quite versatile. They are much bigger than the Musser Good Vibes models though, which I find to be more beneficial. They cut well through an ensemble setting while still having a good amount of warmth in its tone quality. They have a really nice weight to them as well.

Vic Firth Gary Burton signature mallets

Great mallets made by a great company to the specifications of a great vibraphonist. They are warm, they have definition, and the warmth of the sound remains at different volumes. They are great malletts.

Gary Burton Mallets
Comments:
These are great mallets, it's that simple. I know people complain about "signature series" stuff sometimes because they think you pay for the name. That's true, but, its who is behind the name that counts. Gary Burton has taken the vibraphone to a whole other level whether he's a favorite or not. He is a musician who cares about melody, musicianship and education. These mallets are a great combination of warmth and clarity, and the weight is great. These are great mallets created by a great musician with a company that cares about providing percussionists with the best sticks, brushes and mallets available. Well worth the investment.

I absolutely love these. I've been looking for a good compromise between a good attack and delicacy and I think I've found it. I have countless other vibe mallets but these are number one.

What a Brilliant Sound!
Comments:
Kudos to Mr. Burton on this superb mallet! I play this mallet on my crappy school vibes and it makes it sound amazing. It's just hard enough to get a full sound, but not too hard that you get that accursed clanky contact noise. Work best for jazz but would be great in any situation, from soloing to a large ensemble.
