weiss metal triangle hanger

Weiss Metal Triangle Hanger

The Steve Weiss Triangle Hanger quickly and easily rests on a music stand to hang a triangle. The less expensive way to hang your triangle!

String still too short years later

Comments:

Looking at other reviews I am disappointed to say that the string is still too short years later. This product itself is nice but the fact that an Abel or Blackswamp triangle can't vibrate freely while using it is a problem. Sadly I have to go out and purchase fishing line to replace the existing line even though it isn't broken because it was improperly made. I'd give this 5 stars if this were fixed. Considering this is a house brand you'd think they'd want to fix this problem quicker even if it means having an employee take the existing stock and fix it in the store before shipping.

It's a well constructed triangle clip. it feels very strong. Having the double loops was a good idea. However, I think the loops might be a little small, but that could just be a personal preference. One thing I would definitely change (and I plan on making this modification to my clip) is putting some felt on the underside of the clip above the loop. Without it the triangle bumps against it and makes a clicking sound.

Not that great

Comments:

As said in the other reviews, the line has no slack and the triangle slides around, easily hitting the metal parts of the hanger and muffling the sound. You can't mount the hanger with a triangle on it correctly on a music stand unless it is totally flat, in which the music can't sit on the stand correctly. I suppose you could have two stands, one for music and one for the hanger, but that sort of defeats the purpose of the product. At any rate, just fork the money over for a Stubbs triangle hanger.

Doesn't do the trick

Comments:

I tried a hanger of an unknown brand at a rehearsal studio in NY, and loved that it was flat to the stand, and didn't interfere with page turns. Unfortunately, the Weiss version only works if it is exactly flat, so there can be no angle to the stand. Otherwise, the triangle rests on the metal side and is completely muffled. There is no play in the hanging wires to adjust. The music stand, of course, can never be straight up and down without the music falling off, so the hanger is not usable. Even flat, an Abel 6" triangle still hits the metal sides.

Great idea, mediocre implementation

Comments:

This is a much more affordable but less nice version of what you can get from the name brands, I own one of these and one of the name brand ones. There were several issues I had to correct to make this one workable: 1.) The glue holding the foam for where the clip meets the stand gave out in transit, it was separate in the bag. 2.) The included foam piece is too hard and slippery to grip the stand properly or to isolate the vibration of the triangle from the stand very well. 3.) The line as tied is too short, and lets the triangle slide back and forth and clatter against the clip (as well as preventing you from playing with your finger in the loop part, which I sometimes do for more security when I have to pick the triangle up rapidly). I was able to correct these issues with some monofilament fishing line and self-adhesive weatherstripping foam, but be advised that you will need to do some work to make this as useful as the name brand one, which worked perfectly out the box. Aside from those issues, I love this style of triangle hanger -- it is great being able to pick the triangle up without having to mess with a clip. One comment on general functionality is that if you need to use two clips to hang the triangle from a music stand for two-beater playing, this type of clip will put the triangle a bit too far under the edge of the stand for convenient playing, so you'll still want a couple of traditional clips on hand.

Triangle Hanger

Comments:

The wires are too tight and need have more slack. This causes the triangle to slide back and forth too easily. and bumps or rests against the metal frame causing it to be difficult to play. For the time being I placed stick tape under the "U" of the frame to stop the clanking noise of the triangle vs the metal. Just give more slack in the wires Weiss, that's all! Other than that, it's pretty decent.

Functional

Comments:

No need to spend the extra money for the name. If you are on a tight budget like the rest of us, then this is the way to go. It has the same feature that the best triangle holders have: holding the triangle securely and effectively.

A fantastic clip to either hold or put on a stand. it is every bit as good as the name brands, but much cheaper.
