The Double Helix Series was developed to bring out the warmth of the fundamental throughout the range of the 5-octave marimba. The relaxed yarn tension on these mallets enhances the smooth, dark attack of the mallet. The exclusive patent pending...
I ordered these, along with the medium and hard Double Helix mallets for the but 2 get 1 free sale, and I love them! The colors are very nice and unique, so they're not going to be mixed up with any other mallets. I use them daily and so far they've been great! They produce a good, warm sound, and have a comfortable weight. I did sand the shafts so that it would be easier to play with four mallets, and they handled that very well. Overall, I'd definitely recommend to anyone who's looking for a nicer pair of high quality mallets !

Great Starter Mallets
Comments:
I've been using these mallets from the start of my percussion studies all the way back in eighth grade. If you need just a good, long lasting, general mallet that will take you through the basis of all the rep you will need. From Bach to Keiko Abe these mallets are a great choice.

I love them!
Comments:
First mallets I own and I love them. I feel so much confident playing with them. I don't have to hit as hard playing on higher octaves.

Wonderful mallets
Comments:
These are incredible mallets. A bit heavy, but feel excellent when used in Stevens technique, and have a wonderful feel on the marimba. Worth every cent, especially when you catch a sale. These have a deep, warm tone that sounds amazing in all registers of a 4.3 octave marimba, though they are medium-hard. Medium would likely be too soft for the upper register, so for general use, these are the mallets to go with. They also look spectacular, with the colorful, yet subtle multiple yarn wrap and the etched birch shafts. I love them.

Excellent product!
Comments:
These mallets are great for any musician ready to take steps further into a musical world. Great sound, excellent quality, birch handles are tough and sturdy, mallet heads beautifully woven for a great blending sound. These are a small audible difference than the mediums; the attack is a little louder. Definitely a little higher-range friendly. I recommend these and all of the Double Helix mallets for any marimba player.

Good mallets
Comments:
These mallets are great for intermediate players. They tend to be too light to play well in the lower octaves (below F2) and a little soft in the higher range (above F4). But, everything in between is consistent and easily articulated.

Definitely Worth the Investment
Comments:
I bought the medium hard mallet 4 years ago and they have been my go to mallet ever since then. They are great on the low octaves as well as the high octaves. I have not had any problems with them for the 4 years that I have had them and hope to have them for a lot longer. I would definitely recommend this mallet to anyone who is trying to find a great mallet that works for all octaves of the marimba. These mallets are definitely worth the amount of money that they cost.

Good sound, steep price
Comments:
While the tone quality of the Marimba One Double Helix series is wonderful - weighty heads providing richness and warmth with relatively little contact noise - the mallets are truly are single-toned. Described as having a relaxed tension, they are still more tightly wrapped and have thinner yarn than most other higher quality brands' mallets. If you are looking for a mallet that is true to its hardness description, and are willing to shell out a fair chunk of change, you really can't go wrong. Don't expect anything other than a fairly bright sound from these mallets, though.

These are some fine mallets right here. Well worth the price. At first they seem a little heavy, but once you get used to them, you can really make some music! Definitely some great mallets!
