Such a great product. Their clear, full-bodied sound and wide dynamic range are a marvel!

Excellent, but be aware of one small issue...

These are amazing, as other reviews attest. Woody, with great presence, comfortable and completely uniform in sound and feel. However, I encountered an issue which is noteworthy: I had them sitting vertically (resting on the edges, not flat) on a felt-top trap tray. When I went to grab them, an extremely tiny burr (i.e. splinter) on one of the clamshell edges caught on the felt and ripped a small sliver of wood away from it, about 1/8 inch. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the machined edges felt irregular, having other such burrs along their entire length - *extremely* small, but enough to catch felt. The damaged wood was still attached but hanging loose on one side. I was able to make a seamless repair with wood glue, toothpick and tight rubber bands as clamps. Aurally and visually, the damage is completely unnoticeable. I then carefully sanded all edges smooth with fine-grit sandpaper, and I do not anticipate any further issues. I would advise anybody purchasing these to check and do the same before using them.

These castanets sound fantastic, feel great. Easy to use. I used them in the pit for a ballet. I would highly recommend them.

Great mechanics and amazing tone!

Grover really nailed it! The internal device for tension is simple, elegant, and most importantly works extremely well. So the mechanism is great, and then you hear the SOUND. The tone is thick and "woody". Grover does it again! A great addition to their catalog.

Fantastic!

Heard these castanets demo at PASIC. Tried them and LOVED'EM. The elastic on my current castanets keeps stretching, a real problem. I also have to make sure that the adjustment knob is up on both. In addition the handle is too thick for me. The Grovers feel like a timpani handle, perfectly balanced. Can be played any side up. Seem to have a more consistent sound than my rosewood model. Going to order from Steve today!
