I don't have anything bad to say about these mallets, they're great for just about everything. Can't go wrong with an ip902

This was my first pair of xylo mallets that I bought, and they are perfect. I like the thicker shafts over the Bob Becker Blues, and the sound is exaclty the same. Perfect for general concert band playing, rags, and other general hard mallet uses. I often use these in my pit setups as a general xylo/bell mallet too. Highly reccomend.

These mallets sound awful. Whether a xylophone or glockenspiel is struck with these mallets the frame of the instrument goes "clunk" very loudly. After this "clunk" there is some sound that is audible coming off the bar, but it is much quieter than the initial horrid attack these mallets make. Do not waste your money with these mallets, get some Christopher Lambs or the malletech browns instead.

All I could ask for. Clear tone which will cut through an orchestra or wind ensemble. Great for passages from pp-mf but could be used for louder passages. Very good on both glockenspiel and xylophone. Be wary though the shaft ends are quite rough.

This is generally my go-to xylophone mallet. I also use it often on bells. It is one of the few mallets I have in my case that an orchestra conductor has specifically requested I use. Nice weight and ability to control dynamics. Highly recommend.

Wonderful mallets to play legato bell passages, very warm sounding, without a trace of clang. These mallets also produce a nice medium bright tone on xylophone. This is a very well made product; I really enjoy using them.

I did hear back from Malletech and they have sanded off the center line ridge all the way around the mallet as part of the manufacturing process. It makes them look a bit odd but sound ok.

This is the best general xylo mallet! Perfect for any situation, from soft passages to the marching field! Just like any rattan mallet, the shaft will bend with extended use over time. Directors be prepared to replace these every 1-2 years if used daily. You can't go wrong with these mallets!!

These mallets are a good general xylo mallet, but are on the light side of things. Best uses are for small ensemble situations or small venues. They do have enough bite to play almost anything clearly and I've used them in fairly loud situations before, but there are better mallets for wind symphony/concert band/etc. Given my preference for darker sounds, I might suggest starting with this mallet and working your way to heavier and brighter mallets. I would ordinarily suggest the IP904 in place of this mallet (about the same amount of bite, but much heavier), but I'm discovering that IP904s have seemingly consistent longevity issues.
