Great, For the Right Mallets

This is a great full-size mallet bag that would serve anyone well that's looking to store their marimba, vibraphone, and timpani mallets or drum sticks. However, be forewarned that most xylophone and glockenspiel mallets will disappear in these deep pockets as they typically have a shorter-length shaft.
Great bag with just one flaw

This bag is excellent. It's large, the compartments make organizing sticks and mallets very easy and the shoulder strap makes carrying very simple. The only issue is one that others have also mentioned. The zipper opens from the bottom instead of the top. It would be a perfect bag if you could unzip the zipper at the top to quickly grab what you need rather than having to unzip the entire zipper.

I own three of these bags and they work great for holding a medium to large amount of mallets. That being said, good luck if you want to try fitting bass drum or tam-tam mallets in here. Also, the zipper is reversed? For some reason when you open this, the zipper is at the bottom instead of the top, which is counter-productive. If you have to quickly grab a pair of mallets out of this bag, you'll have to unzip the whole thing.
Great, but huge

This mallet bag looks great. The shoulder strap is comfortable, and the pockets are plenty large to carry any books you'll need. The bag however turned out to be remarkably huge. It's about two and a half composition notebooks wide and tall. Way larger than I expected, despite being given dimensions.

I have had a cloth version of this bag for many years. Our local university percussion instructor had a smaller bag with a broken zipper so I got her this bag as an early Christmas present. It really does a good job and the two large pockets are especially useful to hold music folders, small instruments and all the other stuff that percussionists end up carrying around. The only problem with this bag is that you can load it up so much that it is hard to lift and carry. Maybe it should come in a version with wheels?

Fantastic bag for an inexpensive price. If you need something on short notice for your limited budget, I would recommend this bag.
The only choice

I love this stick bag. I bought it in college around 2003, when everyone was buying a name-brand corduroy bag. Some of those bags were falling apart before they even got their BA's, but mine is still going almost 10 years later. I have been using it ever since, and I play regularly with multiple orchestras so it is still getting used frequently. In fact, it hardly shows any wear. I've seen the holes and tears that the big floppy corduroy bags get. If you are a musician that wants what works best, not what looks best, than this is the only choice. And that is ignoring the fact that it is half the price!
I'm not sure what some of the other reviewers were talking about - my bag has two zippers so it can zip from the bottom or the top, so I can open it all the way or just the top.
Pro tip: the outer pockets are just the right size to hold a 11"x14" plexiglass sheet from Home Depot - comes in handy to hold down your music while playing outdoors and in drafty concert halls.

The only bad thing I have to say about this bag is that when I received it, the zipper closes at the bottom. This means that every time I want to get a mallet out of my bag,I have to open the entire thing up, in stead of just opening from the top for easy access. Other than that, this is a very large, very spacious and sturdy mallet bag. I would recommend it.

This bag is HUGE! Way bigger than anything else out there. The pockets are big enough to hold ten technique books, a few scores for marimba concerti, and two 2 inch binders full of music, along with a towel and about 20 pair of mallets and the same amount of sticks. I like that it is water proof and bigger than the $80 corduroy mallet bags. The only thing is that the zipper fell off, but i was stuffing it into a tiny locker everyday; it would have happened to any bag. Perfect!

Its a great bag. The only problem I ever had was that the zipper at the bottom broke on me since it sometimes clipped stone steps and ripped at the corner. When its hanging off of the marimba its great and does everything it needs to. Still a great buy though.

This bag is ok for the price, it definitely can hold a lot, but the inside is not velvet, and the zipper is at the bottom when it is closed, which for me is a big miss and a big pain in the butt. But if you are on a limited budget this could be a good grab, but if you can afford it go for the better ones out there.

This bag is really great. It holds all of my mallets, my triangle and beaters, 3 black hand towels, my music folder, and 3 or 4 technique books. It was designed well except for the fact that the zipper is backwards. When un-zipped the zipper is at the top, which means you can't grab mallets out of the bag unless you unzip it all the way. Overall, this mallet bag is the best value you can get by far.
Best bag I have ever owned.

This bag is great!
I own this bag along with the BALTER MBMC CARRY-ALL CASE, HUMES & BERG MALLET BAG - XL PRO (TX8006), and MALLETECH STICK/MALLET BAG - LHS TOUR BAG (LHSTB). At first I was digging the Malletech bag but it doesn't hold as many mallets as this bag. Close to 40 pair of mallets fits in the Liberty bag and it still zips up comfortably. It has a big zipper so it doesn't break easily like many other bags I have owned.
It's is made with a strong material making it less likely to tear like I have seen and experienced with the Malletech bag.
Great big extended pockets on the sides for holding many method books.
Only downside is the zipper zips from top to bottom so quick access to mallets isn't very likely, but the same can be said for the Malletech bag.
This bag is 5 out of 5 in my book!!
I would not recommend the HUMES & BERG MALLET BAG - XL PRO (TX8006) doesn't hold very many mallets, about 12 pair and it wont zip up.
