This throne feels like it was made for timpanists and it has great features. The only problem I've had is that when the height adjustment is tightened and the head of the stool spins freely, the metal components squeak when turning, loud enough to be heard by the audience.
Three coats of PTFE spray dry lube (the same stuff I use for changing the heads) did the trick and its totally silent now. Still worth knowing before the performance.

I bought this for my occasional timpani gigs. I will also use it in my practice room, to avoid standing on my aging knees too long. It's a basic drum throne, nothing out of the ordinary, doesn't weigh much more than an ordinary throne, and the extra height works well for timpani playing. All in all, highly recommended!

This is a sturdy and pretty well made throne. The four-leg base is solid and strong.The height is easily adjustable and locks in well. The seat cushion is firm. It transports easily. A great purchase and timp or percussion throne for the price.

The Liberty One Tall Tympani drum throne is comparable to the Pearl D1000N Roadster drum throne, only much taller. There are four double braces instead of three. The seat is equivalently as comfortable as the typical-height D1000.
My purchase is for use behind a drum set and not used for tympani in an orchestra.
The current drummer in our surf rock band is very tall and since I'm the studio owner/producer it was up to me to provide a solution to his height issue. Top quality product!!! I can't think of any improvement needed for this item. (Unfortunately, 100% from P.R.O.C., if you are politically aware...)

This is a solid drum throne that works from me on the drum kit or for timpani. It would be to high for young students of a certain height as it only goes so low.

I've always used an old-school wooden bar stool when I've needed to play timpani. The bar stool's been great but it's getting old and creaks a lot now. This Liberty One Tall Stool is a great, solid tall stool for timpani playing and pairs great with the Gibraltar foot rest attachment. I would definitely recommend this for anyone that needs a sturdy adjustable height tall stool. The price makes it a great addition to your gear without breaking the bank.

We have a community band that plays outdoor summer concerts
This stool was purchased for our timpani player
After the first concert using it, his first comment was "That's a nice stool"
We liked the price point and the fact that it will be easy to store when we are not in concert

I was looking at stools and was worried about height given that I like to sit quite high compared to many other players I've observed. Not being able to sample ahead of time, an adjustable stool that could get quite high was just the ticket. It's solid, comfortable, and worth every penny.
I'm going to get a Gibraltar back rest for mine as well.

This is a GREAT timpani throne. Very stable, comfortable seat. The seat would be better with a backrest, but a Pearl D2000TC back rest seat fits on the post AND it goes higher than the original Pearl base. It also folds up smaller than the Pearl. Thank you!

Still trying to find the "right" height for me; BUT, piano stool swivel adjustment for height is good, has a good sturdy locking mechanism so that it won't go out of height adjustment, four legs makes it very stable, seat padding is decent, seat can swivel, or lock in place. Lots to like about this product. A good buy for the price.
