Great stick, excellent bounce, durable. Sticks tend to be on the heavy side. Inconsistent weight. Would like to see them in a natural finish.

I always liked the Firth 5A. These look similar to a 5A in size and shape, but the feel very different. The SDW2 is balanced for lively rebound off the instrument, which helps you play relaxed, get a good tone, and move quickly. Not every pair is the same weight, but all have that same bouncy balance. (I consider this particular inconsistency a good thing - you can choose a pair with the weight you like, or you can switch for playing different things and still have the same feel.) Wherever you'd have a student use a basic stick such as a 5A, try these instead and see if they don't help younger players learn to let the stick rebound. My only complaint is the clunky cymbal sound that the tip gets, but if, as I just read, this has been changed to a smaller tip, Vic Firth and Dave Weckl just may have developed the perfect stick!

These sticks are the best you can buy, for many reasons. The tip is great for cymbal sound, the weight is good for any style of music, and the balance is phenomenal. They rebound amazingly when you play them with the right style. They reflect the superior style and technique of Dave Weckl, who, in my opinion, is the greatest drummer of all time. And they look cool! Buy them.

What can you say about this stick-Fantastic! Pretty hard to find any faults here, if you like the feel of a 5A with a great feel and in my opinion a perfect balance than try this out. Been playing these for years and it was such an improvement over the original. The short tear drop tip on the Evolution is a huge improvement over the original larger bead.

Great sticks for jazz, big band and fusion. I love these even more than the original Dave sticks. They let me do some groove rock as well as fusion. Great stick to make your cymbals come to life.
