These are great replacement heads for LP and many brands of bongos. I still prefer the sound of skin heads on certain drums but I understand if folks use plastic. I always detune the heads when not in use and have found a ratchet driver socket wrench works very well for that. I also replaced the small hex nuts with longer hex tube connecting nuts to make tuning easier.

LP Rawhide Bongo Head

I've had my bongos for over 25 years, and finally a head broke, replaced both heads with these and they sound fantastic. They are a little thinner than the original LP heads on the bongos, and I like that, they are a little more open.

I've been using LP bongo heads for several years. The macho heads don't seem to last as long as I expect. Perhaps this is because of the very high tuning and resulting stress?! More than Once the macho head has come apart where the skin wraps around the inside (?) rim and meets itself. When not in use, the heads are detuned.
Steve Weiss Music does provide very good service. I'll continue to use them especially because where I live, it's difficult to find world music percussion.
