Glassock-Three Days in May (SP)-V/M/P/FL

In the musical world, the sounds of the flute and those of the majority of percussion instruments are not the closest of kin. Despite this difference in sonic quality (or more likely because of it), numerous interesting and effective compositions have been written for this combination, including Three Days in May by Lynn Glassock.

The work is in three movements:
I. A Chance Encounter: An unexpected encounter brings two dissimilar spirits together for the first time.
II. A Walk in the Clouds: The initial lack of semblance gives way to the discovery of things in common. The newly found attraction brings on a peaceful, somewhat hypnotic state that seemingly shows no sign of conflict.
III. The Flux of Reality: Although the relationship remains congenial and supportive, such fleeting idealism eventually gives way to the complications and unevenness of everyday existence.
