It works fine. I prefer the speed key, but either way this will do the job. I would get something stronger for marching drums though.
Description
The Gibraltar 4245 High Torque Drum Key fits all standard tension rods. Larger shaft and handle section for more tension. Great for tuning marching drums.

Do not get this drum key if your planing on using it on marching drums, the short arms make it impossible to use for that application, if you want to use it for concert then it works fine thogh...
