Comments:

This instrument is used in types of music throughout Mexico and Central America, much in the same way that a cowbell is used. There isn't too much information out there about guatacas, but I was able to find and learn the 6/8 rhythm that is often played on it (also called "guataca"). Very unique instrument and great sound.
