Singleton-Argoru VIII-SD

Alvin Singleton's Argoru VIII is a Meet The Composer Commissioning Music/USA commission. It was premiered by Peggy Benkese in 2002. This piece plays with the common notions of what snare drums are supposed to do. It uses rhythm and expression, as well as absolute silence. The composer intentionally left out the use of drum rolls, flams, and other typical things associated with snare drumming, so that all is left is the honesty of the music.
