Great Hybrid Product

Comments:

This is just a beautiful cymbal. It is not in the description but I believe it is made out of B20 bronze like many other Made-in-China cymbals. it has a nice wash and it is very musical and pleasant to ear. It is well made and also makes a great addition to any stack for a very reasonable price.

Great Cymbal!

Comments:

I bought the 12" and 10" Weiss China Splashes to see if something at such a reasonable price would work for me. Well, I can safely say that they do! They are very thin, quick, trashy and explosive. I am using the 12" on its own and the 10" stacked with an old 8" Sabian AAX Splash that I drilled 6 holes in the center of its bow to resemble the effect of their Air Splash. Both sounds are very desirable to me. The 12" makes a higher-pitched and faster sound preferable to me to that of a 12" traditional "Lion" type china that I also own. The 10" stacked with the splash makes an even faster white noise-type sound that is great for quick accents (a sort of Bruford "One More Red Nightmare" type of sound). For the price, these can't be beat.

Weiss China Splash

Comments:

These are interesting effects cymbals. I got the 12" model, and I'll be coming back for the 8" and 10"! This is thinner and has a much smaller bell than the traditonal "Wuhan" type chinas. This makes it easier to carry around in cymbal bags and cases, and also makes it more versatile. You can use these cymbals as stackers with other cymbals in your setup. I am using this 12" Weiss China Splash with an 8" splash on top of it (both right side up). I love the cool white noise trash effect. It's like one of those old school ribbon crashers, but with much more substance and versatility! It also sounds pretty decent on it's own, a high pitched, quick decaying mini-china. These are affordable enough that you can buy several of them ans have fun experimenting with them. Use them as stackers with other cymbals, stackers with each other, alone as unique "Trashy" splashes, or even use two of them as a unique set of auxiliary/mini-hi-hats! I've had a lot of fun being creative with mine, and I am sure you will too. The price is right, the sound is just what you would expect, and they are versatile, easy to position on the kit, easy to carry around and they don't take up a lot of room. All that at such a small price point sounds like a winner to me!

Weiss splash cymbals

Comments:

These Weiss splashes are inexpensive and are interesting cymbals, especially for experimenting. They don't compare to major brand cymbals in durability, quality, or sound, however they can be useful as novelty splashes (they are unique-sounding), stacked, as half hats, or modified with rivets or cutouts. I have a 12" with rivets and sometimes stack it with a 10" Weiss splash, or use it to compliment other splashes. I use a 10" Weiss splash on top of a snare for trashy effects, and also use that 10" as the main 'crash' in a small portable (ie. suitcase) trap kit.
