This may be one of Goldenberg's most underrated works. It gives beginning drum students ample time to understand the complexities of basic rhythms while introducing duets and the importance of being able to keep time with others from the very beginning...all without getting boring. This is an excellent book to teach from because it engages the learner and the teacher! I've had several very young percussionists cycle through this book 2 and 3 times. The only downfall is that it has no dynamics... but this again can be an excellent lesson in musicianship as I always have my students compose and perform their own dynamics for each piece. This snare drum book truly teaches young percussionists to be musicians, not just loud drummers.
