Reich-Nagoya Marimbas (SP)-2M - Product Information
Nagoya Marimbas was written by Steve Reich on commission from the Nagoya College of Music in Japan. Reich, one of the most famous minimalist composers ever, composed this piece using a technique called "phase music" wherein the two players are playing the same thing, but out of sync with each other. The result is a bewildering collage of sound that immediately intrigues the ear. This popular duet has been recorded and played by some of the most famous marimbists in the world.
