I really like this drum. The sound quality is amazing at any dynamic levels. A good investment for those who are past a starter drum but are not ready to make the jump to a Solid Shell Maple Philharmonic. Still worth keeping for any gig!

Great drum for the price

I am a student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst studying classical percussion. This snare's tuning system is extremely user-friendly! While I will agree that the three separate throw-offs are a little over-kill, I cant complain about the ease of tuning. My locker mate owns a Philharmonic solid shell and honestly considering the price difference the snare's sounds are very similar. The only change I made was I took off the ambassador heads that came on it and replaced them with diplomat heads. An excellent snare for the price!

Good drum with a more mature sound than the concert series. Not sure if the 3 snare strainer system is as big of a deal as it sounds. It seems my student and I use the same combination, but it could just a sound we like. Nice to be able to have multi-timbres on one gig and not need to carry more than one drum.
