Ulrich-Abac-Us (SP)-P

ABAC-US by Jurgen Ulrich for percussion quartet. The abacus is an ancient counting device. On one hand, this composition has to do somewhat with counting; on the other hand, in the theory of musical forms, the combination of the letters ABACA is an abbreviation for describing the rondo form.

Instrumentation:
Player 1 - bongos, bass drum, cymbal
Player 2 - snare drum, 3 woodblocks, cymbal
Player 3 - field drum, temple blocks, cymbal
Player 4 - 4 tom toms, 3 cowbells, 3 triangles
