Calderwood Percussion Rope Tension Field Drum - 16x16

This Calderwood Rope Tension Snare Drum is enhanced with some modern features while still delivering a deep Earthy tone with classic field drum feel. One of the modern twists is the use of standard drum heads allowing a variety of sounds and outdoor use. Another modern feature is the snare system uses synthetic gut snares with a custom strainer that features a traditional throw-off and tension dial. The synthetic gut snares also allow for outdoor use. Traditionally rope tension players are always concerned about outdoor use because the calf skin heads and gut snares reacted badly to humidity.

The hand crafted 16x16 Maple shell is paired with hoops that feature a mahogany veneer over maple. The ropes are hand strung with leather tension adjustment wings. A custom machined snare strainer with synthetic gut snares features a snare tension dial allowing the player to further zero in on a perfect feel and sound.
