The Peruvian Creole Box is a peruvian style of instruments originally made out of church collection boxes. Traditionally found in Musica Criolla, a musical style created by African people who combined the music of Africa with the sounds of the Andes. This instrument is played by striking the sides and top of the box with the stick, and use your other hand to open and close the box top to create intricate rhythms.

I was a little concerned about the size (being "Junior"), but really it's a decent size with a great tone. Most cajita I was looking for were almost $200 and this little guy does the job perfectly. A definite must need for authentic Peruvian music.
