I used a graduated set of the Mimuras (med soft, med, med, med hard) for my first solo performance in college and afterwards had people coming up to me asking what I did to get such good tone from the marimba because they had never heard a marimba sound so nice. This series as a whole is my holy grail!

These mallets are great. The yarn is soft, which lessens the contact sound, making rolls effortless. But also, they speak well throughout the entire instrument. The mallet cores is latex, which makes the fundamental tone really strong. These are my go-to mallets for concert applications. They are a little heavier than the Nancy Zeltsman mallets. I play on a synthetic marimba, so they speak a little better than the Zeltzmans. On rosewood, it really depends on the sound you are looking for. They are both great.
