Meinl conga owners, if you have drums with SSR rims (for me my marathon exclusives), you need the extended hoop version to fit. My favorite plastic head!

I bought these trying to find a synthetic head that works for conga drums as well as they do for bongos. A big benefit is you don't have to detune them or have them not sound right in humid weather which was the original reason for seeking them out. In my experience a plus of the synthetic heads is that they are more responsive than the natural rawhide ones but tend to ring. The bigger they are the more they ring and these are no different. However they are less ringy than the remo fiberskyn ones and only take a small amount of moon gel on the edge to affect that. The ring is primarily with the open tones for both brands. The remo ones are a bit more responsive to nuance. These seem thicker, kind of halfway between the Remo ones and natural rawhide. The Carl Evans ones fit my Matador tumba and conga well. I had some issues with the Remo ones not fitting the Matadors and some LP classics I had at the same time which are supposed to be the same size but maybe the other retailer sent the wrong ones. My advice is to try one first before buying a whole set. I noticed a good bongo player on youtube that had a Carl Evans head on the smaller macho drum and a natural head on the larger hembra drum. So a synthetic head for the louder sharper accents. Try one on the smallest drum you have first..... amatuer advice but hopefully helpfull.

Had to replace the skin heads on my LP Bongos because of the humidity down here. These heads seated well. I was able to crank them WAY up to get the relationship I was looking for between them and my Quinto. The feel is nice. The sound is a bit drier than the skin heads, but it's a pretty good trade off.
