Great concert stick, and a great price.
I have been using the Glen Steele Finale sticks from Steve Weiss for many years. They are easily the best concert sticks I have ever used, and I have tried many, many other brands and styles. You need to play them to believe them.
I have a pair of the original hickory Glenn Steele sticks, which are great. So naturally I wanted to see what they would be like in maple. I like the way the hickory versions felt when playing rudimental drum solos on a concert snare & on field snare drums. The maple sticks are of course much lighter and less "powerful", but they still provide a nice feel for rudimental stuff. The large beads provide a nice, full and articulate sound on coated Ambassador type heads. The maple keeps them light, and therefore they feel very fast. The balance is interesting aspect of these sticks - Since they are fatter and longer than the Vic Firth SD1, so technically they weigh a bit more, but the taper is so long & gradual that the balance shifts farther back & the stick feels lighter & more lively than the SD1. If you're gonna compare them to animals: The SD1 is a Bulldog (weight is up-front & lots of power & control packed into a compact frame) The Glenn Steel Finale is a Kangaroo (weight & power are near the back to provide a fast & lively characteristic, but it can still pack a punch with control & grace.) I love this stick, and I tend to practice a lot with it on a Drumslinger Percussion "standard" pad,
Nice feeling sticks with good balance. I like the tip, and the taper. They feel "firm" and aren't too heavy. Well made sticks in my opinion.
Been using these sticks for years.
