Into the Air by Ivan Trevino is a marimba duet dedicated to Michael Burritt. The piece is scored for two 5-octave marimbas but can be adapted for one 5-octave and one 4.3-octave.
From the composer, "I had the pleasure of studying percussion with Michael for two years at Eastman, and learned so much from him about life, music, hard work, and dedication. He is truly a devoted teacher who goes out of his way to ensure his students are in a good place, both musically and otherwise. Into the Air attempts to capture Michael's energy and enthusiasm, and features elements of rock and tonal minimalism."
