These are the best timpani mallets I've ever used. Such a nice tone.
The JGpercussion Classic Timpani Mallets were designed in collaboration with master-craftsman Glenn F. Smith. These hickory shafts are hand-turned for perfect balance and great feel. Each pair is sewn by hand with the highest quality materials. The CL7 “Shostakovich” is a powerful stick made of German felt over a large wood core. Whether it’s the Fifth Symphony or the solo from the First Symphony, this mallet products a tremendous amount of tone.

These are the best timpani mallets I've ever used. Such a nice tone.
These are my favorite mallets in the series, and also the most multi-tonal. The felt is thick enough to provide the player with the ability to roll smoothly and at a low dynamic level, but when the stroke speed and stick height is increased, the large wood core really produces a powerful, full, and clear tone. These mallets can provide the sound of a very soft legato mallet as well as the power of a staccato mallet, but with more of a broad and full tone. Not many mallets can offer that versatility. While these are heavier than most in the series, they are still agile, and the extra weight helps in high dynamic passages. A great value overall.
