JGpercussion JP5 Joseph Pereira Timpani Mallets are a ball-stick design that is hand-sewn with the highest quality soft German felt. This model is designed with multiple layers of extra-soft German felt over a synthetic core. A silky roll stick with a legato attack.

All of the mallets in the Joseph Pereira Signature line are made from strong, hand-selected bamboo. Each pair is 15 inches long (38cm) with bamboo ranging between 11-13mm in diameter. Each mallet comes fitted with a European style handle grip.

good sound but inconsistent specs

Sound of the mallets is good, as expected. But bamboo is much thinner than all the other JP models I have ever bought.. some places near 9mm whereas others have been 10.5 to 11mm. Felt started pulling off very soon after beginning use. Also had a wrapping issue with another same model I bought recently. (Jason did agree to re-wrap the first pair.) These problems really surprise me as in the past every pair I have bought from JG has been super.

JP5 is the perfect mallets for playing any soft sounds, especially during timpani solo part in Mahler 5. I highly recommend JP5 for everyone!
