The "pellets" inside the maracas are ridiculously large. I emptied the maracas and took the time to cut each plastic pellet in half, to try and make the instrument actually sound like a maraca. I eventually replaced the pellets with black peppercorns to improve the sound. Still experimenting with "seeds." Thankfully, they are indeed refillable.
