Small in size and soft dynamically. Reminds me of the LP Soft Shaker. Would work in a studio but don't use for live performances. My pair has a different amount of pellets in each which causes them to produce different sounds and pitches. OK if that's what you are looking for. Certainly not my go to maracas.
