Looks Great & Sounds Great

Comments:

I couldn't be happier with the product from a look and sound perspective. This is exactly what we were looking for since we are using it for a small percussion ensemble for a music performance assessment. We love that we can adjust the tension so we can get the exact sound and response needed for each piece. We couldn't be happier!

Meinl Castanet Machine

Comments:

Solid castanet machine with a good elastic tightening system that's adjustable for different sounds, loosening when not in use. The base has nice rubber feet so it doesn't slide round on percussion table in use. The design of the machine seems to carry more of the wooden base tone than a pure castanet sound - not unpleasant, but to my ear a somewhat deeper / richer sound than some others. By adjusting position of top castanet you can create a range of tones, using either one or both of the castanet pairs. Pleased with this machine.

They are SUPPOSED to have two different pitches

Comments:

To the previous anonymous reviewer, you should know that castanets traditionally come in two pairs at two differing pitches. If the pitches were the same they would not be proper castanets! It's not exactly a matter of preference. It's just the way it's supposed to be.

castanet machine

Comments:

The 2 castanets have two separate pitches. Some people like this, some do not. I do not. It seems like it would be easier to play complicated rhythms if both sounded the same. Other than that, it works perfectly, the castanets do have a nice tone, and the adjustment knobs are a great design.
