Mike Balter SC2 MS Suspended Cymbal Mallets

These suspended cymbal mallets are great for drawn out, slow, and soft cymbal rolls, like those in the works of David Maslanka. The loosely would heads provide legato and soft rolls with good opportunity to reach full crescendo, and are weighted. balanced, and manufactured well like the SC1 mallets. They are, however, distinct from the SC1 mallets because the sound they produce is softer and sweeter than the harder mallets, but not hugely different. I don't use them often enough to have made the investment myself, as they were a gift, but I don't solely play suspended cymbal. That's likely characteristic of anybody from aspiring students to pros that would invest, and they ARE a good investment. They would be great for schools, and they're quite durable as well, fit for any school environment.
