Great practice pad for Pipe and Drum corps. Sounds and feels like the real drum but kinder to the ear. Great for travel and fits in book bag.
The OffWorld Percussion 11 1/2" Outlander practice pad is a rimmed, portable practice pad featuring a slightly thinner layer of OffWorld’s Darkmatter playing surface. This thinner surface allows a more realistic rebound geared towards fundamental chop development.

Feels quite similar to an Invader to me, and feels quite similar to a high-ish-tuned drum set snare (or a marching snare, as it was intended). A bit louder than most gum rubber pads. I only wish the rim had a muting option to practice rimshots at a low volume, but it shouldn't be an issue for practicing on-field or in a non-quiet environment.
The only thing that makes this pad worth much is the Offworld brand. The pad is light and non slip, but it just doesn't play right. It's very hollow, doesn't feel much like any sort of drum I've played on (probably because the playing surface is so thin), and all that is holding the pad together is some cheap wood. I probably should have returned it after I pulled it out of the package.
