Description

The Pearl Philharmonic PHP-1325 Snare Drum is sometimes referred to as a pancake snare. This drum is made from 100% ply maple. To meet the demands of an ever busy audition circuit Pearl has produced a drum that delivers maximum sensitivity and response allowing performers to deliver the quietest of passages with clear and clean articulation.

The compact shell features a single point lug system. Special modifications are made to the snare mechanism to allow for the adjustability of the Pearl Philharmonic Triad Strainer while still allowing the snare wires to be positioned properly against the bottom head. Special light gauge music wires have been created for this model to be used with the graduated tensioning system.

Great Concept, Quality Control Is Needed

The drum and hardware work perfectly, but the snares that Pearl sent had problems. Each individual unit of snares was tightened to different tensions, which made it impossible to get a crisp decay. Pearl is allowing me to send the drum back (admittedly after waiting a full week for a response), but I've had to use this drum for three auditions in the meantime, which was less than ideal. I think this drum is an outstanding value, but don't be afraid to send it back if you have issues.
