For the price, a neat sound effect.
Description
The Remo Thunder Tube is a percussion instrument with tons of possibilities. Give the Thunder Tube a shake and the spring resonates a small chamber to create a roaring thunder sound. Move your hand over the open end to create a "wah wah" effect. A fun instrument for kids too.

This is an amazingly great little sound effect. For its compact size it makes a lot of noise. I needed it for accompanying a silent film that featured a re-creation of the San Francisco earthquake. Miked and run thru the theatre's sub-woofers it produced just the floor-rocking sound I was looking for. I have started to experiment with effects other than just shaking the tube and it can produce some rather eerie noises. I can imagine using it along with the vampire film Nosferatu around Halloween. Great effect and really inexpensive for what it does.

The amount of sounds that can be created with this thing seems pretty much endless. While it's not especially good for a thunder sound effect (at least this size), it creates plenty of other cool sounds. If you want to add cool effects to something, get this.

Big sound, really fun to play and wow folks with. If you mic it, the rest of the ensemble should be quieter. It has this loud shimmer like using felt mallets on a ride cymbal.
