Miyoshi-Ripple-M - Product Information

Ripple by Akira Miyoshi was written for the 1999 World Marimba Competition. This one movement with 4 distince sections is similiar to his earlier marimba work Torse III, being symphonic in shape.

"Ripple opesn with a clear exposition of the textural and pitch material that will be used and developed throughout the entire work. The first section uses various lengths of space, or breath, between sounds; it closes with a 2 voice chorale placed a tri-tone higher than the opening pitch material. The is followed by a 4 voice chorale, a fast rhythmic scherzo and a finale. The way the pitch material spreads out chromatically depicts the way ripples would emanate from a stone dropped in water." - from the liner notes of Greg Giannascoli's Hammer
